Frequently asked questions
Will blocking a country hurt my Google rankings?
No. Verified search engine crawlers are always allowed regardless of your country rules. Googlebot crawls mostly from the US, but even non-US crawlers pass because verification is by network, not location.
Can visitors bypass a country block with a VPN?
With a plain country blocker, yes. That is why Cordon pairs country rules with VPN and proxy detection on Growth and up: the evasion route gets blocked too.
Does Shopify have built-in country blocking?
No. Shopify Markets controls where you sell and ship, but any visitor from anywhere can still browse your store. Visitor-level blocking requires an app.
